naci\u00f3 el 1 de abril de 1911 en Beas Pind, cuando la India a\u00fan era colonia brit\u00e1nica. Fue el menor de cuatro hermanos y su infancia estuvo marcada por la fragilidad: no aprendi\u00f3 a caminar hasta los cinco a\u00f1os y sus piernas eran tan d\u00e9biles que muchos dudaban de que pudiera llevar una vida normal.<\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_6\" class=\"paragraph\">Los ni\u00f1os de su entorno lo apodaron \u00abdanda\u00bb, que significa \u00abpalo\u00bb en punyab\u00ed, por su delgadez y torpeza.}<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de las dificultades, Singh se convirti\u00f3 en un corredor aficionado en su juventud. Fue entonces, ya instalado en Londres con su hijo, cuando decidi\u00f3 volver a correr como una forma de superar el dolor.<\/p>\n<h3>Carrera tard\u00eda<\/h3>\n<p id=\"paragraph_9\" class=\"paragraph\">Lo extraordinario de la historia de Fauja Singh es que su carrera deportiva comenz\u00f3 a los 89 a\u00f1os.
